Each element can be linked to one or more display rules, which are visible in the “Display Rules” column of the element overview.
This association determines on which specific pages of your website the element may appear, in addition to the general association with a position. An element without an associated display rule (shown as “0” in that column) generally appears on every page where the associated position is present, while an element with, for example, six associated rules appears only on the pages that meet those rules.
You typically set up this link when editing the element or from within the Display Rules module itself, where you can assign a rule to one or more elements.
For a detailed explanation of how to set up the rules themselves—including pattern types such as Contains, Starts With, and RegEx—please refer to the Display Rules section in the “Targeted Display” category.
