CNAME verification is the process of proving that you actually have control over the domain you’re adding in Sturely by creating a specific DNS record with your domain registrar or hosting provider.
Once this CNAME record is set up correctly and recognized by Sturely, the domain status in the overview will appear as “Verified,” and the “Verify CNAME” column will show the value “Yes.” This verification method is recommended because it allows you to use first-party cookie technology, which ensures more accurate and GDPR-compliant data collection than if verification is skipped.
In practice, verification takes place in two steps: first, you add the domain in Sturely without skipping verification, after which the system provides the technical details you need to enter with your DNS provider; then, after correctly setting up the CNAME record, Sturely checks whether this record is findable and correctly configured.
As long as verification is not complete, the overview shows the CNAME status as “not yet verified,” and it is advisable to wait a short while after adjusting the DNS settings, as DNS changes take time to propagate fully worldwide.
