When creating a new display rule, you first choose a rule type: Include or Exclude.
An “Include” rule displays the linked element only on URLs that match the pattern, while an “Exclude” rule hides the element on the matching URLs and allows it everywhere else.
This choice determines the rule’s basic logic and must therefore be made carefully based on your goal: if you want to display content very specifically on a limited number of pages, you’ll usually choose “Include”; if you want to display content everywhere except on a few specific pages—such as the checkout page—then “Exclude” is the logical choice.
In addition to the rule type, give the rule a clear name, optionally select a rule set in which the rule will be grouped, and set the pattern against which URLs will be compared. The pattern can apply to all languages at once or, using the button next to “All languages,” be refined separately for each language.
Once the rule is created, you can link it to one or more elements, after which the rule automatically determines whether that element will be visible on a particular page.
