When creating a position, first enter a position name and link the position to an existing domain.
Next, you can optionally specify a zone label and choose which element types are allowed in this position: Image, HTML5, Template, or Email. This selection acts as a technical safeguard: only elements of an allowed type can actually be displayed via this position, which prevents errors if an incorrect element type were accidentally linked to the position.
In addition, in the “Recommended Max. Element Sizes” section, you specify the ideal dimensions so that content creators know the size constraints they must adhere to.
An important part of the placement settings is the fallback element: the element that is automatically displayed when, at a given moment, there is no active campaign or no suitable element available for this position. Without a fallback element, a position would simply remain empty in that case, which quickly stands out on a website as a distracting white space.
You can also set a fallback margin above and below, which reserves extra space around the fallback element so that the page layout doesn’t shift when the system switches between a real campaign and the fallback.
